For the cabbage strudel, peel the onion and cut into small cubes. Melt lard in a saucepan, add onion and sugar and roast until light yellow.

Cut the cabbage in half, remove the stalk and cut the cabbage about 2 mm thick. Add the cabbage to the onion, season, mix well and stew until soft. The cabbage should turn brown. Allow to cool.

Cut the smoked meat into small cubes. Roll up puff pastry, place a strip of cabbage in the middle, spread the smoked meat on top.

Brush dough all around with milk, fold left and right over filling, brush with milk. Bake in the preheated oven at 200 °C for about 30 minutes until the strudel has a nice golden color.

Preparation Tip:

A yogurt sauce goes very well with the cabbage strudel.
